The Climate

The Bushveld is located North in South Africa and reaches deep into Botswana.  The heart of the Bushveld is in the Limpopo province between 3-4 hours drive from the Airport in Johannesburg.

Here you will find knee high to shoulder high grasslands filled with thorn trees and an immense variety of bushes and animals. It is also known for its large Marula and Ironwood trees. The climate is warm (70-90F) and dry but cools down in June-Aug (60-70 F). Although there are a few mountains and hills you will mainly be on flats round 2000 ft above sea level. This is a malaria free area, but consult with your doctor.

Bow Hunting - Permanent Blinds

This family owned property has been a bowhunt exclusive property since 70"ties.   If you are a longbow, crossbow or compound bow hunter you will greatly benefit from this.  We offer 17 species to choose from that is native to the bushveld.  You can also hunt baboon, monkeys, predators and birds.

The 8 permanent blinds is placed strategically on the property to offer a variety of scenery and species.  All the blinds are large enough to accommodate 2 people.  The blind has a versatile shooting space and an opening for your camera.  It is comfortable, quite and build for max scent control.

All Blinds allow for a 10-30 yard shot.  If you want to get up close and personal while hunting some of the most majestic animals Africa has to offer this is where you want to do it.  Many of our observers enjoy a day in blind just as much as the hunter.

We also offer broadhead butts at the camp to make sure you are ready before you head out to the Bush.

We offer our clients the option to walk and stalk.  This is a completely different ball game all on its own.  The bush is dense and the Animals are extremely alert.  You must have good warm in walking boots, full camos and great shooting skills.  This is recommended for returning clients who are looking for specific species.

Speciality Hunts

Africa offers a wide variety of species, this makes numerous African adventures possible.  Grand slam hunt, Plaines game hunt, or Dangerous game.  You can also hunt 7 of the tiny ten in South Africa.

Grand slam

The South African Grand Slam is the challenge of hunting all 4 the springbuck variations.  The common (The South-African National antelope far right) the black springbuck (second from right), the white springbuck and the copper (far left).  We offer this hunt not only to our rifle hunters but also to our Bow hunters.  Congratulations to Tim Ewing and Neal Hutcheson for completing this challenge with your bows.

The Springbuck are native to the Highveld and can be done as a stand alone hunt or be combined with a Bushveld hunt.  While you are in the Highveld you can also look at harvesting a Black Wildebeest.

Rifle Hunting in the Bushveld

The vast variety of species makes it ideal for first time hunters, returning hunters or observers alike.  It leans well to both bow and rifle hunting.  It keeps you guessing as to what animal you will see next, rifle hunting is spot and stalk.

Your shot can be anything from 20 up to 150 yards.  The dense bushes, tall grass and Thorn trees limit your visibility and really test your skills as a hunter.  With a great guide and good shot placement the hunter will prevail.  You can hunt anything from 5-10 days depending on the number of species you want.

Make sure you bring full camouflaged clothing and/or a ghielie suite with well worn in boots and thick socks. In June-August a hunting beanie, gloves, jacket and thick socks are recommended. For the warmer months a hat and sun block, is a must.

Minimum caliber for plains game will be .243 Win; .270; .308 calibers and any of the .300 magnum calibers are considered good all rounder. Dangerous game – a minimum of .375 H&H with well constructed bullets.  (See the firearm import procedure on the home page or simply rent a rifle from us.)

Rifle Hunting in the Highveld

The Highveld, being great open grass plains and high mountains, one can literally see for miles.
Here you will see herds of up to 300 animals. The mountains promise to give you a few 4x4 moments and a view like no other.

This is also a spot and stalk game, miles of walking is to be expected. You need to spot the animals before they spot you. Your guide will strategically move around the open plains to get close enough. You will stalk for miles before you will be able to take your shot. As ethical hunters we do not hunt from the vehicle. Your shots will be between 50 and 300 yards.

Make sure you bring full camouflage clothing and/or a ghielie suite, with well worn in boots and thick socks. The higher altitude brings colder weather. From May-August bring a hunting beanie, gloves, warm underwear and a heavy jacket.

Hunting smaller plains game a .223 or .243 is sufficient but a good all rounder is a .300 Win or shot Mag.  This allows you to hunt the bigger trophies including the Black Wildebeest and Gemsbuck.  Dangerous game – a minimum of .375 H&H with well constructed bullets.  (See the firearm import procedure on the home page or simply rent a rifle from us.)
